And here is his\u00a0basic idea:<\/p>\n<h2>Let Employer\u00a0Fall In Love With You Before You Start Talking Numbers<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.6;\">This is the most important thing. You should be well prepared and<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.6;\">\u00a0fully express yourself. Show the employer what your strengths are\u00a0and convince them that you are a competent\u00a0\u00a0employees.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.4rem; line-height: 1.6;\">That way you\u2019re in a much better negotiating position.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Don\u2019t Talk Salary\u00a0Right Away<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWhen you get the actual offer, you\u2019re in no emotional shape to negotiate,\u201d he says. \u201cAll you\u2019re thinking about is that you got the offer and you just want to lock it up.\u201d A lot of people are afraid that if they ask for more time, the hiring manager will rescind the opportunity. But that doesn\u2019t happen 99% of the time, he says. What you should say: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled you want to hire me. Could you just give me a couple of days to think about it?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Do Enough Research<\/h2>\n<p>Then, Chase says, it\u2019s time to do as much research as possible on how much the company pays for that position and to draw up a list of things that matter to you, including your scope of responsibilities, base salary, bonus, frequency of reviews, vacation time, technology you\u2019ll be using, even where you\u2019ll sit. Go into the next meeting with a pad and pen and say, I hope you don\u2019t mind if I take notes.
